The Central County Neighborhood Improvement Project (CCNIP) is the second of three neighborhood infrastructure improvements projects carried out by Broward County in the unincorporated areas. The project included improvements to the drainage, water, sewer, and roadway systems. Chen and Associates was selected to be the design engineer for one third of the project sites, including the Franklin Park, Washington Park, St. George West and East neighborhood areas. Chen and Associates was also part of a team of engineers that completed the basis of design report (BODR), and served as the project reviewer that made recommendations resulting in substantial savings to the project’s budget. The St. George East Portion of the project, which is located SE of Sunrise Boulevard and NW 31st Avenue was designed and administered for a fee of approximately $1,200,000.00. It involved the installation of water and sewer improvements, along with paving and drainage improvements, landscaping and entry features. The project was completed on time and on budget, at approximately $10 Million in January 2006- including emergency change orders related to Hurricane Clean-Up and approximately 2 miles of 20" Water Main in FDOT ROW.
